About Fayetteville

Fayetteville, AR Dickson St, Old Main, Farmer's Market

The town of Fayetteville was founded in 1828 on land that was originally part of the Louisiana Purchase.  The northwest Arkansas region, which includes Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville has experienced dramatic growth since those early days and is now the fastest growing region in the state of Arkansas.  The population of Fayetteville is just over 83,000 and the population for Northwest Arkansas as a whole is over 525,000.  Northwest Arkansas is home to Tyson Foods, J.B. Hunt, Wal-Mart and the University of Arkansas flagship campus.  Fayetteville has consistently been ranked as a top place to live.  The 2017 US News and World Report ranking has Fayetteville listed as number five due in part to the economy and friendliness of the citizens.

Planning Your Visit

Fayetteville experiences all four seasons.  Although the average daily high in February is 51 degrees and the low is 28 degrees, a coat, hat, gloves and boots would be a good idea as the weather in Fayetteville can be unpredictable.  The campus is a quick 15-minute walk from the Chancellor Hotel and our venues are even closer.

Crystal Bridges Museum Tour

crystal bridges museum

Join us for a tour of one of the most prestigious museums in the country.  Crystal Bridges collection spans more than five centuries of American Masters ranging from the colonial era to present day.

We are hosting a pre-conference tour of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art on Thursday, February 22, 2018.  The bus will depart from the Chancellor Hotel at 1pm and return at 5pm.  A $30 transportation fee will be charged for the tour.

On August 23, 2017, the University of Arkansas announced that the Walton Family Charitable Foundation had donated $120 million, the largest gift ever to a U.S. institution to support and establish a School of Art.  The School of Art will place a strong emphasis on American art and art of the Americas which coincides with the mission of Crystal Bridges.  A primary goal of the gift is collaboration between the School of Art and Crystal Bridges to engage the region in outreach & public service.

If you would like to sign up for the tour, mark the selection on the registration form.  For more information, email Cassie Franklin at
